Marla's Story...

I started seriously painting in 1981 and have done oil paintings, acrylic decorative painting and stenciling. In 1985, I started growing flowers and herbs for drying and making wreaths. Eventually, I added other types of floral designing.
The creative need grew, but work space in our small home was hard to find. In 2004, I purchased a little cottage in Belleville to be my studio. I re-decorated (another passion of mine) and decided to have a Christmas open house and try to sell some of my creations, as well as purchased gift items. Items were displayed in all rooms, including bed, bath, and kitchen. It was a SUCCESS! I did this for 3 more years and then, guess what? I needed more space!
The cottage was sold and I purchased a large house with wonderful character. It was over 100 years old, with an open stairway and beautiful woodwork. Featured items were floral designs, gift ideas, home decorating products, as well as some vintage items, all appropriate to the season.

After so many requests that I be open all year, I decided to open a shop in downtown Scandia, KS. I opened in July 2013 and have been very pleased with the response. I added scarves, jewelry and other fashion items to my inventory, as well as additional gift items. The shop is located at 304 4th ST in Scandia and is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 am-5 pm.

I am doing more and more re-purposing of items, creating one of a kind pieces, as well as adding more aprons and kitchen items, more fashion accessories and more gift items. I still have lots of reasonably priced florals and seasonal items. .I hope you come for a visit soon. Marla
