About Billings, MO


Billings was platted in 1872, and the community was named after railroad baron Frederick H. Billings, who helped build the town and a church in exchange for the naming rights. A post office has been in operation at Billings since 1871. Christian County is rich in history with lead mines, dairy farms, cheese factories, subsistence farming, tie and timber companies, tomato farms and canneries, logging and oak furniture manufacturing, and gristmills have all enjoyed economic predominance. Diversified manufacturing today includes plastics, electric motors, apparel, stretch limousines, boat trailers, vinegar and safes. Other strong industries are construction, real estate, banking, antiques and handicrafts. Billings Missouri is a great place to visit and an even better to live.
