About Hills, MN


Hills, Minnesota has the pride of being the southwestern-most city in Minnesota and offers residents a small town community just 20 minutes from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The city was founded in 1890 at the junction of the Sioux City and Northern Railroad and the Cherokee and Sioux Falls Railroad. The city derives its name from the president of the Sioux City and Northern, Fredric C. Hills. Hills is a thriving community with several yearly activities including Friendship Days, which is the second weekend in June. A great place to live, retire or raise a family.
