The Dayton Rodeo was started in 1937 by three young Dayton cowboys.  It's annual performances grew each year and in 1955, it was moved to its current site at Oak Park, on the south edge of Dayton.  Today, the rodeo is sanctioned by the PRCA, and the four Labor Day Weekend performances draw more than 10,000 spectators with prize money of over $40,000.  A carnival and flea market are also held in conjunction with the rodeo, and a large parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on Labor Day.
