Dike Watermelon Day first was started by the Dike Chamber of Commerce on August 20, 1960. The Chamber decided to give out free watermelon slices to community persons. The tradition has continued with the DCBA hosting the Watermelon Day event. Watermelon Days are held on the second weekend of August each year.
