The City of Lakes

Nestled around five beautiful lakes, Fairmont features over 400 acres of parks and has long been considered “southern Minnesota’s best-kept secret.” The community provides a complete array of recreational, cultural, educational, healthcare and business services supporting a regional area population of over 34,000.

Fairmont is the county seat for Martin County and has a rich history dating back to the first recorded visit to the area by white men in 1838. The remarkable Martin County Courthouse sits of the site of old Fort Fairmount—a substantial log stockade built in 1862 during the Sioux Uprising.

Fairmont’s friendly residents, unique specialty shops and extensive interconnecting lakes system certainly make it an incredible destination point for travelers!
