About Woodstock, MN

WOODSTOCK, incorporated July 11, 1892, "was named after Woodstock, the county seat of McHenry County, Illinois, which was named after Woodstock, Vermont, and that after a town in England." The city is located on a site earlier called Hickox Prairie for first landowners, Granger and Kasson Hickox; the post office began as Hickox in 1878 with Granger Hickox as postmaster, who continued after the name was changed to Woodstock in 1879; it had a station of the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railroad.
